Decide who gets in and what they can do

Shield, Protect, product 2 of 8

The problem. Agents can pretend to be someone else, sign in with a customer’s password, or scrape data you meant to keep private.

What changes. Every agent proves who it is, and your policy decides what it may see and do, wherever it arrives.

Watch the four checks

Pick a request and follow it through the checks every agent request passes.

4 checks
  1. Verified agent

    Who is really asking?

  2. Your policy

What may this agent do here?

  3. Live truth

    Is it accurate right now?

  4. Customer approval

Did the customer agree to exactly this?

Your business

  • Answers you reviewed
  • Products and prices
  • Orders and payments

Nothing reaches your systems until the checks pass.

How Shield works

Verified agents

Every request is signed by the agent and checked against its published key, for freshness and for replays. Knowing who the agent is unlocks nothing on its own.

  • Tell real assistants apart from impersonators
  • Copied or replayed requests are refused
  • Built on HTTP Message Signatures, an open standard
  • Working in lab

Your policy, enforced where agents arrive

Decide what stays public, what only verified agents may see, and which actions need the customer. A script only points the way; enforcement runs at your server, backend and CDN, where every request arrives.

  • Agents that skip your gateway can’t reach protected data
  • Public pages stay readable for people and search engines
  • Revoke a connector at once
  • Server and backend:Working in lab
  • CDN:In lab

Scoped access instead of passwords

The customer grants an agent specific access, a limit and an expiry, inside what your policy allows. The agent never holds the customer’s password, and one revoke ends its access.

  • Every agent action stays inside a scope you set
  • Customers can take access back at any time
  • No shared credentials to leak or misuse
  • Working in lab

Agents that skip the front door

Some agents ignore your agent address and use your website like a person. TrueSession spots them by how they behave, flags the whole visit on your server and points them to your agent address. Your policy decides what the flag changes, and behaviour alone never blocks anyone or unlocks anything.

  • Unofficial agents steered to your official route
  • Slower browsing and extra checks only where you choose
  • A flag a bot can’t lose by clearing its browser

Write your agent policy

Your policy decides what every agent may do at your store. Change a rule and watch the requests coming in. Some protections are always on and can’t be switched off.

Your agent policy

Northstar Outfitters, an example store. Change any rule.

Who may read prices and stock
Hold an item for a customer
Most of one item per order
Deliver to a new address
Change account details

Always on

  • Check who is asking: Before any rule runs. Fake or copied requests are refused first.
  • Place an order: Customer approves on your page. No agent can buy without the customer’s own yes.

Requests coming in

Decided by your policy, in code.

  • Scraper, no signature“Read prices and stock for 4,200 products”Readable, 60 a minute
  • Claude, for Maya“Hold the Ridgeline GTX in size 9”Held for 15 minutes
  • Reseller bot, verified“Buy 6 pairs”Refused: over your limit of 4
  • ChatGPT agent, for Sam“Deliver to a new address in Denver”Sam confirms on your page
  • Gemini, for Lee“Change the email on Lee’s account”Refused
  • Claude, for Maya“Buy 1 pair for $158”Always on:Maya approves on your page
  • Says it’s ChatGPT“Read Sam’s past orders”Always on:Refused: fake signature

What it helps stop

  • Impersonating and replayed requests

Signatures, short time windows and one-time checks refuse them.

  • Agents using customers’ passwords

Agents get a scoped, revocable grant instead, within your policy.

  • Agents tricked by a page or a message

Text on pages is treated as data. A misled agent still can’t act outside its access.

  • Scraping of protected data

Stock, partner rates and account data need a valid, short-lived access grant.

  • Card details exposed to agents

Payment happens on your provider’s page. Agents never see card numbers.

  • Wrong prices and policies

Agents get answers from your systems and the facts you reviewed.

No product can detect every agent. An agent working inside a customer’s own browser can look exactly like the customer. That is why the actions that matter always need the customer’s approval.

Questions about Shield

Can a website script force every AI agent to use the official route?

No script can do that alone, because many agents never run JavaScript. TrueSession uses the script for discovery and handoff, and enforces at your server or CDN edge, where every request arrives. Requests without a valid grant cannot reach protected data or complete consequential actions.

Does TrueSession detect every bot or agent?

No one can identify every visitor. An agent working inside a customer’s own browser session can look identical to that customer. When behaviour suggests an agent, TrueSession flags the visit on your server and points it to your agent address, and your policy can slow it down or ask for a check. Behaviour alone never blocks anyone or unlocks anything. And even an undetected agent cannot complete a purchase, transfer or account change without the customer’s exact approval.

How is TrueSession different from bot management or an MCP gateway?

Bot management decides which traffic reaches your site. MCP gateways turn APIs into tools for a company’s own agents. TrueSession is for other people’s agents acting for your customers: it adds your policy per action, the customer’s delegation and exact approval, payment confirmation, signed answers, conversations and proof, across every agent protocol, and it works with the CDN you already have.
